As a participant in the wide world of gaming, and a contributor to the online discussion about video games, I feel that I must take a stand. I take this stand for the other gamers who feel the same way that I do (and there has to be A FEW) about this particular subject. I realize that it may cost me, and that my stance is probably unpopular, but I would do myself a disservice if I didn't say anything about it.
I THINK THAT PSN TROPHIES AND XBOX ACHIEVMENTS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS STUPID, CHEAP WAYS TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF A GAME BY CAPITALIZING ON HUMAN SUSCEPTIBILITY TO OPERANT CONDITIONING TECHNIQUES.

8-BitVS Feature: Kirby's Epic Quilt Patch!
What you may not know is that there was a recent contest in which readers who entered their names into the picking had an opportunity to be randomly selected to create a patch for an epic quilt that was being made (...Sewn? ...Quilterized?) to commemorate Nintendo's recent release of Kirby's Epic Yarn! I entered my name in the running, and like a roundhouse at a face-kicking competition, I WON!

Okami: BitNick's Game To Be Thankful For - 2010
Each year at Thanksgiving, I can't help but ruminate on what I was thankful for over the time that has elapsed since last I gorged myself on the meat of the bird.
Sometimes I'm thankful for family, for a warm place to sleep, or for great friends and fun. Sometimes I'm glad I have the help I do, and others, I'm glad I was able to help someone else.
Although I am thankful for a great many of those things this year, I want to talk today about a game I am thankful for: Okami.

Welcome To The 8-Bit Show!
Welcome to The 8-Bit Variety Show, a site where you can come to get your daily dose of Super Mushroom, Invincibility Star, Spread Gun, Heart Container, E-Tank, or whatever other power-up fits your allegory!
Here you will find (hopefully) interesting articles and (assumedly) fascinating features! There are comics, videos, pictures, humor, debate, and arguments about which video game character would win in a fight!
Like this, but without all the cheap, classless Photoshop! |
